Inauguration and protest

Okay, people are going to start talking about protesting the inauguration, I think that they shouldn't. I'm not saying that the day of the inauguration isn't a good day to march on Washington, but it's important to do so in support of something like an issue rather than simply in opposition to Bush.

If people don't protest the Bush Inaugural then how will the Democrats (in Congress) and the 48% of Americans (who did not vote BUSH) know that they are not alone.

If we are going to stand against the Bush neo-con agenda, then we need to start standing against Bush as the representative of that Agenda.

The only problems I forsee with Protest this Jan. 20th is Police Harrassment and Lack of Press Coverage.

Do you how that so many people turned out to protest his last Inaugural that he could not make the traditional walk and have to have it re-created for photos later on. The press never covered this..and what it meant.

However, neither of these two issues means that people should not start protesting Bush, he is worth Protesting. And besides..the Press could not cover the protests out misplaced ideal of "trying to heal the country" after the Supreme Court Fiasco. Now with Bush having a "Mandate" and Protest would be a story..proof that their still is an oppostion.

I say, if you've go the dough to fly to DC this Jan 20 then go and http://www.turnyourbackonbush.org/

I disagree. I think that we need to start standing against his positions rather than him. Protesting the man may come across as petty. Protesting his positions is more likely to come across as responsible citizenship.

It's also giving ideas for change. I grow tired of people disagreeing with something, but never giving a different alternative. No Bush isn't perfect, but we need options, not hate. Besides, there are a myriad of issues to protest for. It shouldn't be hard to find one.
