01. Total volume of music on my hard drive:
I'm not at my hard drive, but on my iPod, there are 6097 tracks, nearly a month of audio, though that is only about 13M, because I don't rip to high quality formats, because I can't really tell the difference.
02. The last CD I bought was:
Just bought the requiem for a dream soundtrack, not 5 minutes ago.
03. The song playing right now:
Song of the Sibyl, Dead Can Dance.
04. Five songs I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me:
a. All I wanna do, Sheryl Crow. This is an oldie, but honestly is about the most poetic song I know. It is part of my revised BEn soundtrack for a reason. Partially because I am not one of the "good people of the world".
b. my favorite things, John Coltrane. I know every note, it is my rainy day music. It is just a wonderful representation of chill for me.
c.the Choral finale of the Ode to Joy, Ludwig van Beethoven, Herbert Von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic on DeutscheGrammaphon. There is this one section that I listen to over and over that is brilliant, as two themes are passed, one upwards, one downwards. It's brilliant and beautiful and I sang it.
d.When the Levee Breaks, Led Zeppelin. This song is about desperation, and it so goddamn good that it hurts. I want to be the drummer from Zeppelin some days.
e.the B side of Abbey Road, the Beatles. I count this as one song because it's a medley. There are no song breaks to speak of, and this makes it one long song. It reminds me of days of joyful debauchery at Earlham, of spending 4/20 in a kiddie pool in my friend's dorm room on 3rd floor Barrett, of the orgasm chair and of drinking Milwaukee's best.
05. Five people I'm passing the baton to and why:
I don't guilt people into memes.
