good points, but I would counter that dieting is a very active sort of denial, and usually involves working out. But I know what you mean.....

where does the advent of the metrosexual fit into all of this? Granted, this is not necessarily the stereotype of attractiveness anywhere outside of the big cities, but what do you think? In my mind, it actually creates an added difficulty for men, just as I sometimes think the "modern working woman" ideal has added extra difficulty for women.... Now, men must be strong/work out AND use body care products AND wear fashionable clothing. Attractive working women, who were already expected to dress fashionably and use "beauty products" are now also expected to be athletic, aka work out. Perhaps the two sexes are becoming equalized by the industry? Not in the average locale, perhaps, but at the urban edges?
