I'd agree with the notion that the ideals of beauty are complicating to the point of adding more expectations to everyone. A person can choose to only pursue one or a couple of the modes of being beatiful, but then they may be seen as unbalanced. A woman who exercises to be healthy may get muscular, but then be seen as 'unwomanly' if she doesn't use makeup and product and clothing to feminize herself. Likewise, a man who only dresses up and uses product can be viewed as 'effeminate' and is driven to become muscular as well as sylish. It's a no win for anyone.

Personally, I work out to be healthy, knowing that being healthy and happy with my body and my self can and will make me attractive, and settle at that.

Hopefully, it's enough. For women of the kind I'd want to be with, it aught to be.
