My opposition to Huckabee

Huckabee wants to Amend the constitution so it's in God's standards. Setting aside the fact that the president can't amend the constitution on their own, this is particularly troubling to me and this is specifically because of Exodus 22:18. In this passage, alternately translated as "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live(King James)", "Put to death any woman who practices magic(Good News)" and "Death is the punishment for witchcraft(The Promise: Contemporary English Version)", witches are condemned to death for their crimes. These are 'God's Standards', that witches should be killed. Now, as you may or may not know, I have some ties to Neo-Pagan groups who practice 'witchcraft'. If Huckabee got to amend the constitution, I and those groups would be subject to death for our practices. Do I think that's likely? Not in the immediate future, but it's a slippery slope between creating laws to prohibit legal practice of homosexuality and instituting policies reminiscent of the witch trials.
Religion does not belong in politics. Religion does not belong in science. Modern conservative religion has taken upon itself a crusade to eliminate disagreement by trying to eliminate those things which do not agree with their literal interpretation of truth, whether in the form of abstinence only education or intelligent design in classrooms, whether the institution of prayer in school or the elimination of gay rights, Conservative Christianity is determined to make itself the only option and that is fundamentally un-American.
