Sep. 18th, 2003 06:37 pmY'know, a lot of people I know are often quite late to things. There is a theme that goes on around here about unpunctuality. Having had parties and dinners and such as well as running a game, I find that it is rare for people to show up on time for things and even rarer for those people to inform people ahead of time that they will be late. And this is one of my pet peeves overall. And I don't think that people realize what being late can sound like.
To me, it often sounds like "You are not important enough to me for me to make the effort to be on time." It sounds like, "my time is more important than your effort, ergo, I am more important than you." These things are not fun, and while I don't think that it's what people mean to say with their lateness, it is what it often sounds like.
