a late update
Apr. 30th, 2004 11:37 amOkay, this is a late update for people, but Serenity(house of us) is holding a Beltaine party tomorrow night. Here's the details.
What it is:
a party where we will provide food(free and vegetarian)(1)
a party where people should bring musical instruments/drums
a party where people can celebrate the coming of summer
What it isn't:
a party where we will provide drink(byob or donation)(2)
a sex party(3)
a party for "game"(4)
(1)if you cannot get through a meal without MEAT! then feel free to bring your own and a grill. The grill we'll be using will be veggie, but we're open to people cooking meat either in the fire or on a seperate grill, josef_grey and drydem are doing the cooking and buying of food and since neither of them are meat eaters, they found it hard to justify buying meat.
(2)we will have alcohol that you can give us money for, but it's too expensive to provide free drinks for everyone.
(3)people have a tendency to think of Beltaine as "sex-day". It is and it isn't. The way we practice sex, namely as a non-procreative activity, is not Beltaine. Beltaine is a fertility holiday. The point of Beltaine sex is to make babies. With this in mind, if you want to come to our party to make a baby. um. sure, we'll give you access to a room in which to try. Otherwise, sex is purely a party thing rather than a holiday thing.
(4)this is an open party and while I am sure that people will talk "game" it is not a "game" party. all are welcome and so forth.
