Frustration about lack of direction
Aug. 12th, 2004 12:03 pmy'know, I would change my performance just about every night and was never told to lock in any way. I was never told "you should keep with one interpretation."
So, I'm gonna stick with the interpretation that I worked with on Saturday. MacBeth is not ambitious, but is instead a psychopath, who's been reigned in and now, with the witch's and his wife's egging on has unleashed himself in order to achieve the "ambition".
He doesn't really want to be king, he simply wants to be at peace. Which he cannot achieve because the psychosis, once unleashed, will not rest without more blood.
