book meme from gollum and wadam
Apr. 7th, 2009 10:39 am1) What author do you own the most books by?
This is a tricky question, because I am not quite sure how to count. Not in general, just in terms of a counting scheme for books.
If you count comic books/graphic novels, I think either Neil Gaiman Brian Michael Bendis, Brian K. Vaughn or Warren Ellis.
If you count series as multiple books, then J.K. Rowling
If you only count separate works then it's a tie between Michel Foucault and Richard Dorson
2) What book do you own the most copies of?
I tend not to own multiple copies of books, but I have 5 copies of King Lear.
3) Did it bother you that both those questions ended with prepositions?
No. I think that the vagaries of the english language and the requirement of targeted prepositions to make certain verbs make sense, combined with colloquial english and such, makes sentences ending with prepositions something I don't make a big deal of.
I mean, I tend to follow grammar, but I don't care that much.
4) What fictional character are you secretly in love with?
I have a crush on Lizzie Bennet from P&P.
5) What book have you read the most times in your life (excluding picture books read to children).
Jitterbug Perfume, I reread it every few years.
6) What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?
Let's call it either the Westmark Series or the Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander. I was a big Lloyd Alexander fan then.
7) What is the worst book you've read in the past year?
Let's go with comics and call it Jeph Loeb's Ulitmatum series.
8) What is the best book you've read in the past year?
I reread the Song of Ice and Fire, which is so good.
9) If you could force everyone you tagged to read one book, what would it be?
I would make everyone read Lies My Teacher Told Me by James Loewen
10) Who deserves to win the next Nobel Prize for Literature?
since I have no real idea of current high lit, I don't care
11) What book would you most like to see made into a movie?
The Song of Ice and Fire will make an excellent HBO series
12) What book would you least like to see made into a movie?
The Bible. I'm sick of ideological crap ala the Passion of the Christ
