I've seen that moment from two different photo angles, and I still can't figure out what the hell was going on there. Did McCain nearly puke on stage? Have a heart attack? What in God's name was he doing?
Eh, I can't fault him this one. it wasn't that he was exiting the stage wrong, it's that the moderator got up and went to shake hands, and they did one of those "wait, which way are you going, which way am I going?" dances around the desk. This was McCain's self-deprecating "Ack! I'll go this way!" moment. The camera just caught him at TERRIBLE time.
Yeah, the 'reaction to what perposterous shit the other guy is saying' bit was used on both sides last night, but McCain was way more dramatic. Usually both would try to look stern or thoughtful (or McCain would try and write War and Peace while Obama talked) while the other guy talked, but McCain was much more prone to the suprised look or the raised eyebrow look. Here, though...I really am not sure. Maybe he just had a sudden moment of clarity into how jackassy he came off.
