1. Lately I've heard a lot from your direction about the album "Abbey Road". What is it about that album that makes it so special to you?
It is an album, by which I don't mean just a collection of songs but a cohesive unit.
Let me expound. the first side is nice, a lot of the better beatles songs, slower, more soulful than other beatles albums(Oh Darling, Something, Come Together) mixed with a pair of my childhood favorites(Octopus' Garden, Maxwell's Silver Hammer). The album really heats up at the end of the first side with I Want You(She's so Heavy). This song builds and builds the tension of the first side to a major musical cliffhanger.
The tension is resolved at the beginning of side two with Here comes the Sun. Because restarts the tension with a bit of hint towards the musical genius of the rest of the album. But it really starts on You never give me your money. This is where the first of the recurring themes occurs. It builds up and then fades out. Then the sun king enters and segues straight into Mr. Mustard and then on into Polythene Pam rolling along as a single medley. Polythene Pam builds, then She came in through the bathroom window hits after a wonderful lead-up. Then it rests...The piano comes back in gently with Golden Slumbers, moves on into Carry that weight. And then bam, back in comes You never give me your money as if it never faded out. And it builds on the intensity of carry that weight into the end, which concludes the album's meat well.
And just when you think it's over. When you are ready to lift the needle, you hear the dulcet simple tones of Her Majesty, the punctuation to the sentence that is Abbey Road.
Honestly when it comes down to it, I need to have you come visit my basement and then play the album for you so I can explain it to you.
2. Would you rather be innocence and ignorant or jaded and knowledgable?
I can't really say. Innocent and ignorant led to a lot of harsh pain when I was younger. Jaded and knowledgable involves a lot of low grade pain. But honestly I'd rather know that I don't know when it comes down to it.
3. What is the point that seperates a game from a great game?
flow. it's unmeasurable and really hard to actually seek. It's much more of a Zen thing. I've achieved it once or twice. A great game simply goes. The characters argue with each other in character and everything falls into place without prompting. It's rare.
4. Speaking of games, ToR is finally concluded. What will you miss the most about it?
I don't know yet. In some ways, it never got to the point I wanted it to get to. I have more regrets about ToR than things I'll miss. Don't get me wrong, it was a lot of fun, but it was more of a learning experience for me running an ongoing rather than limited scale LARP.
5. What is the color of love to you? Why?
Deep Reddish Purple. Because that is what I see when I close my eyes and closing my eyes is what love is all about for me. It's a comfort level thing.
