20 songs, taken at random from my collection, with choice lyrics extracted. Try and guess which song is which, answers will be posted in a few days.

1. I told you bout the walrus and me, man
you know that we're as close as can be, man
well here's another clue for you all
the walrus was Paul

2.All the world just stopped now
So you say you don't wanna stay together anymore
Let me take a deep breath babe
If you need me, me and neil'll be hangin' out with the dream king
Neil says hi by the way
I don't believe you're leaving cause me and Charles Manson like the same ice cream

3.Media vita in morte sumus:
quem quærimus adiutorem,
nisi te Domine?
Qui pro peccatis nostris iuste irasceris

4.And you read your Emily Dickinson,
And I my Robert Frost,
And we note our place with bookmarkers
That measure what we've lost.
Like a poem poorly written
We are verses out of rhythm,
Couplets out of rhyme,
In syncopated time

5.you know I am, I am and I will be
closer to you, than you to anyone
you know I cannot see
the earth, the sun for all the damage we have done
so tired of playing in the water
wanna be your saint, your martyr
so sorry baby it's my mistake
the years have blown away

6.Dies, nox et omnia
michi sunt contraria
virginum colloquia
me fay planszer,
oy suvenz suspirier
plu me fay temer

7.backed into a corner
he barricades his mind
fastens up the shutters every night
this island is big enough for every castaway
but most of us are looking round for someone else to blame

8.we rock the party,
rock the party,
come on [x7]
get down
when we're gona make you freak

9.So he mortgaged the house and he traded the kids
And he studied the odds and he practiced the bids.
The he ran to province next door to his
Where casinos were a brand new flourishing biz.
His new found luck at blackjack brought him such wealth
They realized he'd make a perfect Minister of Health.

10.I look like Jesus, so they say
but mr. Jesus is very far away
now you're the only one here who can tell me if it's true
that you love me, and I love me

11.It's a damn tough life full of toil and strife we whalermen undergo
and we don't give a damn when the gale is done how hard the wind did blow
cause we're homeward bound from the arctic ground with a good ship taut and free
and we won't give a damn when we drink our rum with the girls of old Maui

12.Whoa, Chinese ninja warrior
with your heart so cold.

13.Since you're gone I've been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around and it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby please

14. Years spin by and now the child is twenty
though his dreams have lost some grandeur coming true
there'll be new dreams, maybe better dreams and plenty
before the last revolving year is through.

15.you used to ride on a chrome horse with your diplomat
who carried on his shoulders a siamese cat
ain't it hard when you discovered that,
he really wasn't where it's at
after he took from you everything he could steal

16.turn around, look at what you see
in the face, the mirror of your dreams
make believe I'm everywhere
hidden in your eyes

17.We feel the room swayin'
While the band's playin'
One of your old favourite songs from way back when
So, take her wrap, fellas
Find her an empty lap, fellas

18.tell you one thing
i'm gonna make noise when i go down
for ten square blocks
they're gonna know i died
all the goddesses will come up
to the ripped screen door
and say,
what do you want, dear?
and i'll say,
i want inside

19.You wonder why I lay awake at night,
Well I just can't get to sleep.
It's not the devils or the feelings inside,
It's the peace of mind I seek.
'Cause you stand there laughin', I'm standin' starin'
And I've come all this way and all you ever said was,
"Well, that's OK".

20.the dawn threw up across the sky
we kissed like boy and girl
but neither of us was innocent
we'd both been screwed by the world
we clung onto each other
for fear we'd drift away
ah you touched me to my heart's desire
on the dawning of that day

2. "Tear in your Hand" -- Tori Amos (but lots have already gotten that one)

11. "Old Maui" -- Trad. sea chanty (I bet I'm one of the few who'll get this one. I even know how to sing it)

13. "Every Breath you Take" -- Police (my '80's roots are showing)

14. "The Circle Game" -- Joni Mitchell (I love this song)

16. "Neverending Story" -- Limahl (I love this song, too)

17. "Hello, Dolly" -- Al Jolson/Carol Channing/Barbara Streisand (This is a guess because I don't actually know all the words to Hello Dolly, but the cadence is right)
