So, I intend to spend part of my weekend in a piece of furniture where Jesus is a lion, children are frequently enobled and it's all snowy and stuff. In other words, Narnia. Anyone want to go see sometime on Saturday or Sunday?

I prefer the interpretation Neil Gaiman cited that has Aslan as an allegory for Mithras. The argument being that if he were an allegory for Jesus, he'd be a poor donkey or other downtrodden beast of burden and would rally the other downtrodden beasts and vermin to rise against a system that cloaked its decadent immorality in the guise of righteous virtue, rather than a noble and powerful lion who easily rallied all the land against a clearly evil witch.

But, Jesus or Mithras, since I can't see it on Friday or Saturday, I'd be up for it on Sunday (rather fitting, actually).

Yeah, god king torn down at this height of his power by his hated enemies, ect... Mithiras makes more sense than Jesus as an Aslan analogue, that's for sure.

But I've yet to decide if I'm going to spend money on this thing, yet. I mean, all I really want to see are the bits with the White Witch. I mean... there's no other point to the movie, is there?

Dude, see the movie for the White Witch alone. It is worth the investment. She has some AMAZING fight scenes, her performance is spot on. The scene where she first meets Edmund is wonderful, the perfect movement from coddling/seductive to cracking her voice like a whip at him.

Do it.
