Why can't the media cover the goddamn Phillies. I'm constantly pissed about how the media pretty much ignores Philadelphia. The coverage for the past few months has been.
1. The Mets may win...unless Philadelphia STAYS in first place.
2. The Brewers may win...unless Philadelphia beats them 3-1
3. The Dodgers, oh god, the dodgers!...except that Philadelphia has pulled ahead 3-1.

I have nothing against the fans of these teams. Indeed I count fans of two of these teams among my friends. But goddamnit, why can't the story be about the damn Phillies.

Of course, in the time between when I started writing this and now, MLB.com has added a story on the Phillies to its lead stories on the other 3 remaining teams in the postseason, but this is an endemic problem.

I agree. Though I've got to say: having the national sports media cover the dodgers is a nice change of pace. They are pretty roundly ignored on the national stage every year, no matter how well they are doing.

I know what you mean. Four, Five years ago, the Phillies were blowing away the NL east and it took until the Allstar break for any national coverage.

And here I just figured that the coverage I saw in Sept. favored the Mets because, you know, I'm in NYC. I can see how that would be massively annoying...on the flip side, they're in the post season! :) I got to watch my boys melt down and fail in their very last game of the season...again...

It is nice to be doing well in the post-season. And I feel the pain of the Mets fan.

I feel your pain. When the Tigers were in the playoffs two years ago they were totally played as 'That other team that the Yankees are going to knock out in the first round.' Which just made taking them down 4-1 all the more satisfying!

And speaking of 4-1, congrats! It's never as fun when your own team's not in it, but this year is shaping up to be fun and interesting all the same ^_^
