the formula comes from an old commercial. THere were these two kids playing in a little league game, and one asked the other how he hit so well.

"how do you always hit so good."
"when I'm going to the plate, I eat an M&M. I get a single with a brown one, orange-double, yellow-triple! and with a green one...I hit the ball dooowntooown."
"quick, I'm up gimme a green one!"
"only one left, and that's for me."

This was in the 80's. With the addition of new colors, I have had to adapt the formula. suffice to say, the order of auspiciousness has not fundamentally changed, just been expanded.
